WhatsApp: Hide images and videos from Gallery

Opens the settings in WhatsApp.
Tap on chats .
At the bottom, you’ll see the checkmark next to Show media in gallery.

Hide only pictures of certain chats or groups

Opens the chat or group whose pictures you want to hide.
At the top, click on the name of the chat or group.
Tap on visibility of media .
Now select the entry No.
Confirmed with OK .

Your gallery will not show any WhatsApp images and videos from this contact or group. If necessary, restart your smartphone to apply the changes.

Alternative: hide WhatsApp images at the folder level

This method always works:

Opens the file manager of your smartphone. Otherwise uses apps like ES File Explorer .
Look for the WhatsApp folder on the internal memory (or the SD card if you store your media there).
Opens the folder WhatsApp/Media/WhatsApp Images .
Create a new file via the File Manager’s menu button or the + symbol.
Name this: .nomedia
All folders containing the .nomedia file will not be displayed in your gallery.
